Craft Story

Thangka painting follows iconographic rules taught in Tibetan monasteries for centuries. Different schools (Karma Gardri, Menri, Khyenri) have distinct styles. A traditional thangka can take 3 months to 3 years depending on complexity. The mineral pigments are hand-ground; gold is real gold leaf.
