Booking & Payment

How do I book a trip? +
Submit our inquiry form or contact us via WhatsApp/email. We respond within 24 hours with initial questions to understand your needs. After 1-3 rounds of refinement, we send a final itinerary and quote. To confirm, you pay a 30% deposit via PayPal Business, Wise, or bank transfer.
What payment methods do you accept? +
We accept PayPal Business (PayPal balance and major cards), Wise international transfer, and direct bank transfer. We do NOT accept cash, Western Union, cryptocurrency, or any payment method without dispute protection. See our /trust page for details.
When do I need to pay? +
Standard schedule: 30% deposit upon confirmation, 40% at 30 days before departure, 30% at 7 days before departure. Different schedules apply for Bespoke tier and flight-inclusive bookings — always specified in your specific proposal.
Are your prices in USD? +
Yes, all prices are quoted in USD unless otherwise stated. We can discuss alternative currencies for payment (EUR, GBP, AED, etc.) on request, calculated at the prevailing exchange rate.
What does "From $1,499" actually include? +
For our Essential tier (e.g., 8-day Golden Triangle), $1,499/person includes: private English-speaking guide and driver in each city, 7 nights 4-star hotel with breakfast, 1st-class high-speed train Beijing→Xi'an, economy flight Xi'an→Shanghai, all entrance fees, daily lunch, airport transfers. Excludes: international flights, China visa, travel insurance, gratuities, optional dinners.
Are there hidden fees or mandatory shopping stops? +
No. The price you're quoted is the final price. We do not run commission-driven shopping stops. We do not pressure you to buy anything during your trip. Optional activities are clearly marked and never required.

Cancellation & Refunds

What's your cancellation policy? +
60+ days before departure: 90% refund. 31-60 days: 60%. 15-30 days: 30%. Less than 15 days: no refund. See /trust for full details and force majeure provisions.
What if my flight is canceled? +
If you can't travel due to flight issues outside your control, we work with our partners to either postpone your trip or maximize your refund. Travel insurance covering trip interruption is strongly recommended.
Do I need travel insurance? +
We strongly recommend it for all trips. For Tibet travel, comprehensive insurance is mandatory due to altitude. We can recommend providers but do not sell insurance ourselves.
What if my visa is rejected? +
If you're refused a Chinese visa or visa-free entry, we provide a full refund minus the design fee (10% of total). Note that most travelers don't need a visa under current 2026 policies — see our /travel-guide section.

Visas & Documents

Do I need a visa to visit China? +
It depends on your nationality. As of 2026, China offers 30-day visa-free entry to 45+ countries (including most EU, UK, Japan, South Korea, Australia, NZ, UAE, Qatar, etc.). Plus 240-hour transit visa-free for 55 countries (including USA, Canada, Brazil). Plus 30-day Hainan-only visa-free for 59 countries. Tell us your nationality and we'll check your eligibility.
How long does the visa process take? +
For travelers who do need visas (most don't in 2026), the standard processing time is 4-7 business days. Some embassies process within 1-2 days for an expedited fee. We provide guidance but cannot process visas — only embassies can.
Do I need permits for Tibet? +
Yes, all foreign visitors to Tibet need a Tibet Travel Permit (TTP) in addition to a Chinese visa or visa-free entry. We handle TTP applications for our partners — typically 2-3 weeks lead time required.
What documents should I bring? +
Passport (with 6+ months validity), visa (if required), printed copies of hotel bookings (China sometimes requires for hotel registration), travel insurance documents, return flight ticket. Tibet travelers also need their TTP printed.

Travel Logistics

Will my guide speak English? +
Yes, all our guides speak English. For our Signature and Bespoke tiers, we provide senior guides with subject expertise (history, art, photography, etc.). Other languages on request: Arabic, Spanish, French, Russian, Japanese.
What kind of vehicle will I have? +
Essential tier: comfortable private vehicle (typically Buick Excelle GT or similar). Signature tier: premium private vehicle (Buick GL8 or equivalent for groups). Bespoke tier: Mercedes V-Class with English-speaking driver.
What hotels will I stay at? +
Essential: comfortable 4-star hotels in central locations (international or Chinese chains). Signature: 4-5 star boutique hotels with character. Bespoke: 5-star international hotels (Aman, Peninsula, Mandarin Oriental tier where requested and available).
How will I get between cities? +
High-speed trains for most routes (cleanest, most efficient way to travel China). Domestic flights for longer distances. We book all transportation as part of your package.
Can I pay in cash in China? +
Cash is increasingly rare in China. Most stores only accept WeChat Pay or Alipay. As of 2026, Alipay Tour Pass and WeChat Pay International Edition both accept foreign credit cards. We provide a payment guide before your trip.
How does internet work for foreign travelers? +
Most major Western services (Google, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Western news) are blocked in mainland China. You'll need a VPN (set up before arrival) or eSIM with international roaming for unrestricted internet. Hotels typically have wifi but with the same restrictions.

Customization & Special Needs

Can I customize the itineraries shown? +
Absolutely. Every itinerary on our site is a starting point. Add cities, remove stops, change pace, request specific experiences — we design from there.
Do you offer halal-friendly travel? +
Yes. We have specific arrangements for halal meals, prayer times, mosque visits in Beijing, Xi'an, and other major cities. We also have Sichuan & Tibet itineraries with halal arrangements throughout. Tell us your requirements when you inquire.
Are your tours family-friendly? +
Yes, all our tours can be designed for families. We adjust pace, choose family-friendly hotels, include kid-relevant experiences (pandas in Chengdu, hands-on cooking classes, etc.). Children under 12 typically receive 30-50% discount.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions? +
Yes — vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free, halal, kosher, allergies. Tell us in advance and our partners arrange accordingly. Note: very strict kosher may require additional planning given limited certified kosher options outside major cities.
Do you accommodate elderly travelers or mobility issues? +
Yes. We adjust pace, choose hotels with elevators, plan around stairs at historical sites (e.g., Great Wall has cable car options), include rest periods. Tell us about specific needs and we'll design accordingly.

About Us

How long has Curated China been in business? +
We launched in 2026. We're a new service. We're honest about that on our /trust and /team pages.
Are you a Chinese company or international? +
We're an international travel design service that partners with licensed Chinese inbound tour operators. The design and client communication side is international; the on-the-ground execution is by licensed Chinese partners.
How do I know you're legitimate? +
See our /trust page for our business model, payment protections, and cancellation policies. We use traceable payment methods (PayPal Business, Wise, bank transfer — never Western Union or crypto). As we accumulate verified reviews on Google, TripAdvisor, and Trustpilot, those will provide additional independent verification.
Can I speak with someone before booking? +
Yes. After your initial inquiry, we're happy to have a video call, voice call, or extended WhatsApp conversation. For Bespoke tier inquiries, this is standard.
