Suzhou
Silk, Embroidery, and Garden Crafts
Suzhou has been the center of Chinese silk and embroidery for over 2,000 years. Su embroidery (苏绣) is one of China's "Four Great Embroideries" — known for its near-photographic detail using silk threads finer than a human hair.
Craft Heritage
Suzhou silk production began in the Tang Dynasty. The famous "double-sided embroidery" technique — where the same image appears on both sides without a knot — was developed here. UNESCO recognized Su embroidery as part of China's intangible cultural heritage.
Why Authentic
A genuine Su embroidery piece can take a master 6 months to a year to complete. The thread is split into 1/64th of a single strand for fine details. Authenticity comes from the workshop signature and certificate.
